Babies in Today's Society

A couple of years ago, in the town I lived in, there was a hospital worker (a nurse?) who, in trying to carry out his rushed early morning tasks and still get to work on time, forgot to drop the baby off at daycare. The baby was in its carrier in his backseat all day. It died. There was never, as far as I know, any question of this being anything other than an accident.

Shortly after it happened I saw a newspaper article saying that in recent years there had been a sharp rise in such cases. All over America. Parents so busy they accidentally leave the baby in the backseat or on top of the car when they drive off. You can't help but think something is wrong with contemporary society when you hear things like this.
